Abstract

This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: The objective of this systematic review is to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of black cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa or Actaea racemosa) in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women. The specific review questions to be addressed are: ‐ How effective is black cohosh in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women at reducing the frequency or intensity of menopausal symptoms? ‐ How safe is black cohosh in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women when taken to alleviate the symptoms of menopause?
