Dealing with the Interregnum

This chapter discusses the experiences of Peter Heylyn during the interregnum of the 1650s. With no government or patron to serve or to write for, and with no immediate dependence, Heylyn's writings moved in a number of intriguing directions. Though he withdrew from overtly controversial writing or commentary on recent events, he never completely abandoned polemical writing. Some of his most notable works during this period include Cosmographie, Theologia Veterum, Ecclesia Vindicata and Historia Quinqu-Articularis.
