Abstract
High-molecular-weight polyamides are commonly known as nylon. Polyamides are crystalline polymers typically produced by the condensation of a diacid and a diamine. Chemical structures with effects of heat aging, common stabilizers, manufacturers, and trade names along with typical end uses of the plastics are included besides extensive tabular and graphical physical, mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties before and after exposure to heat. Plastics included in this section are amorphous polyamide, Polyamide 6, Nylon 6, Polyamide 11, Nylon 11, Polyamide 12, Nylon 12, Polyamide 46, Nylon 46, Polyamide 66, Nylon 66, polyarylamide, and polyphthalamide.
