Abstract
This chapter discusses metrics for 2D video quality, and then examines the issues that affect 3D video quality. It describes the methods of measuring 3D video quality using panels of viewers. The chapter provides a method for evaluating 3D video quality that correlates well with the HVS. Even though there are 2D objective quality models that are highly correlated with the HVS, very little work has been carried out on modelling perceptual quality attributes of 3D video. Objective 3D quality assessment is still far from being mature. Objective video quality assessment (for both3Dand 2D) is generally classified as follows: full-reference objective video quality assessment (FR); no-reference objective video quality assessment (NR); and reduced-reference objective video quality assessment (RR). Controlled Vocabulary Terms three-dimensional displays; video communication
