Abstract

The name ‘varactor diode’ is derived from the words ‘variable reactor’, because varactor reactance can be varied in a controlled manner by adjusting d.c. bias voltage. At present, there are at least fifteen manufacturers in USA of varactor diodes, because of its rapidly increasing application. The important features of the device are dealt in this article.
