Abstract

Bispherical coordinates are defined and related to cylindrical and to spherical coordinates. We consider geometries where two spheres are external to each other and where one is inside the other. Useful sums and integrals in bispherical coordinates are derived. Solutions of Laplace's equation are given, also in degenerate bispherical coordinates (touching spheres). Coordinates suitable for overlapping spheres are also considered.
