Neutron activation techniques for measuring trace metals in fresh waters, seawater, marine organisms, sediments, and atmospheric particulates are discussed. Principles of neutron activation analysis, neutron irradiation facilities and procedures, and sample preparation including preconcentration and postirradiation separations are outlined.
