Abstract

The following report is intended to describe the processes and considerations involved in the design of an 18-foot foil assisted sailing catamaran. It is the intention of the author to describe the reasoning behind its design choices and structural calculations and give an explanation of each process. A full understanding of the task of designing cats, working with classifications rules and the overall project management is planned. The result is to be an attractive design with the ability to reach high speeds in a wide range of wind speed and sea state.
