Abstract
The effectiveness of xylanase enzyme had been evaluated on different sapwood pulps. All pulps reduced kappa number and increased brightness and viscosity on xylanase treatment. But the effectiveness was different for the pulp of different processes. Xylanase treated pulp showed higher brightness value on DED and DEDP bleaching sequences. The physical properties were also better for xylanase treated pulp. Pulp produced from soda process showed highest effectiveness among all pulps.
