Abstract
While women are represented in the field of policing, the profession remains largely dominated by men. Women face barriers to obtaining jobs as police officers and encounter additional challenges once hired into a department. Police culture has historically been unwelcoming toward women and cultural change is a key element to encouraging more women to enter the field.
