Social Externalities as a Side Effect of the Investment Activity

Abstract

This article researches social effects (externalities) from the investment activity and their impact on the social and economic development. The main differences between the concepts of “social impact” and “social externalities” have been defined. The types of social externalities and certain categories of investments related to the purposeful achievement of social effects such as social, values-based, socially responsible investment have been considered. The main positive externalities for the society as a result of investment attraction have been analyzed. The author concludes that the prospects of investment activity related to the achievement of the positive social effects and defines the ways to improve the modern economic conditions for attracting investment.Article received 16.03.2017
