Abstract
[Objective] To study on the application of real-time fluorescent RT-PCR and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) for the detection of Enterovirus type 71 nucleotide.[Methods] Stool and herpes fluid specimens were collected from children with suspect Enterovirus infection in Longgang District of Shenzhen in May 2008.Real-time fluorescent RT-PCR and RT-PCR were applied to detect EV71.[Results] A total of 16 samples were collected from stool and herpes fluid specimens and were performed the detection of EV71.Eight of them were positive by real-time fluorescent RTPCR,the positive rate was 50.0%(8 /16),while five samples showed to be positive by RT-PCR,and the positive rate was 31.3%(5 /16).[Conclusion] Real-time fluorescent RT-PCR is a high specific and sensitive method and can detect virus RNA within several hours after specimen collections,so that it can rapidly diagnose virus DNA and plays an important role for the investigation of epidemiology and treatment.
