Abstract
Objective: To investigate the significance of nerve electrophysiology in patients with Guillain-Barre Syndrome(GBS).Methods:Electrophysiological data were retrospectively analyzed in 18 patients with GBS,which included motor conduction velocity(MCV),sensory conduction velocity(SCV),F wave,H reflex and electromyography(EMG). Results: ①The abnormal rate of MCV was 76.87% and that of SCV was 39.62%. The abnormal rate of NCV in upper limbs was 58.57%, and the abnormal rate of NCV in lower limbs was 63.00%.There was significant difference of MCV and SCV of 18 cases with GBS. There was no significant difference of the upper limbs and the lower limbs in NCV. ②The abnormal rate of F wave was 77.94% and that of H reflex was 69.44%. There are significant difference of F and NCV of 18 cases with GBS. There was significant difference of F and H of 18 cases with GBS. ③The abnormal rate of EMG was 41.67%.In the 18 cases with GBS,there were 4 patients with the positive sharp waves and fibrillation potential of EMG,and 9 patients with the neurogenic damage of EMG. Conclusion: The injury of distal motor nerve is more severe than that of sensory nerve and the F wave are sensitive indices for the early diagnosis of GBS. EMG reveals the neurogenic damage,F wave can not substitute conventional nerve electrophysiology methods in which the diagnostic sensitivity can be improved if all the parameters are used together.
