Abstract

Objective To investigate the epidemiologic characteristics of adult DM and IGR.Methods 3500 local urban and rural inhabitants were enrolled in this randomized cluster sampling suvey. We determined the serum glucose level in fasting state and at 2 hours after 75g glucose oral administration so that we can analyze the morbidity of DM and IGF and influencing factors. Results The morbidity of DM and IGF were 4.26%(Population standardized rate=3.55%) and 5.26%(Population standardized rate=4.46%) respectively; The morbidity of IFG,IGT and IFG combined with IGT is 1.09%,1.17% and 3.00% respectively, which accounted 20.6%,22.3% and 57.1% in IGR respectively. The new diagnose rate of DM was 65.1%,which was 78.9% in rural inhabitants, especially higher than urban inhabitants. Conclusion Compared with the developed area, the morbidity of adult DM and IGR,and the diagnosis rate of DM in the developing area is lower;whether we choose fasting serum glucose only or 2 hours postprandial serum glucose only as the screening index, there will be always more than 20% missed in IGR.
