EVOLUTION AND PROSPECT OF CHINA’S REGIONAL PLANNING

Abstract

This paper reviews the three phases of the development and evolution of China’s regional planning practice, and analyzes the situation of cur- rent competition for planning space between differ- ent government sectors, and puts forward the pros- pect of future regional planning in China. The paper also raises a series of concrete suggestions for such issues as how to set up a balanced planning system, how to adjust planning management institutions, how to constitute regional planning regulations and laws, how to add more planning contents and how to im- prove spatial governance, etc.
