Abstract
Staphylococcus aureus strains isolated from bovine mastitis were searched by PCR technique for the classical and recently described members of the staphylococcal pyrogenic toxin superantigen gene group containing enterotoxin genes sea-see, seg-sej and toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 gene. In 83 isolates tested, seg, seh, sei were the most frequent amplified genes (31.3%, 34.9%, and 36.1%, respectively). Nineteen isolates (10.8%) carried sea, 1 (1.2%) seb, 5 (6.0%) sec, and 4 (4.8%) sed genes. The gene tst was found twice in sec positive isolates. Genes sej together with sed were found in 4 isolates tested.
