Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of nape eight-needle acupuncture in treating cervical spondylotic vertebral arteriopathy. Methods Eighty-six patients with cervical spondylotic vertebral arteriopathy were randomly allocated to a treatment group of 44 cases and a control group of 42 cases. The treatment group received nape eight-needle acupuncture and the control group, medication. Results The total efficacy rate was 90.9% in the treatment group and 71.4% in the control group;there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P0.01).After 2 weeks of treatment, there was a statistically significant difference in the symptom score between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion Nape eight-needle acupuncture can markedly improve the symptoms due to vertebrobasilar insufficiency and has clinically a good therapeutic effect.
