Observations on the Efficacy of Scalp Acupuncture plus Body Acupuncture in Treating Cervical Spondylotic Vertebral Arteriopathy

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of scalp acupuncture plus body acupuncture in treating cervical spondylotic vertebral arteriopathy.Methods Seventy-eight patients with cervical spondylotic vertebral arteriopathy were randomly allocated to a treatment group of 45 cases and a control group of 33 cases.The treatment group received scalp acupuncture plus body acupuncture and the control group,body acupuncture alone.The therapeutic effects were evaluated after 3 courses of treatment.Results The cure rate and the total efficacy rate were 68.9% and 97.8%,respectively,in the treatment group and 27.3% and 81.8%,respectively,in the control group.There were statistically significant differences in both between the two groups(P0.01,P0.05).Conclusion The effect of scalp acupuncture plus body acupuncture is superior to that of body acupuncture alone in treating cervical spondylotic vertebral arteriopathy.
