Expression and Significance of p16 and Rb Protein in Gastric Carcinomas

Objective To detect the expression of p16 and Rb protein in gastric cancer tissues and analyze its relationship to carcinogenesis,development,prognosis.Methods The expressions of p16 and Rb protein were detected in 53 gastric cancerous tissues by S P immunohistochemical method.Results The p16 and Rb positive rates were 62.3% and 60.4% in 53 gastric carcionsa.The 5 year survial rate of p16 positive and Rb negative patients was higher than that of p16 negative and Rb positive ones,p16 negative and Rb positive patients who received adjuvant chemotherapy had a higher metastasis rate than that of p16 positive and Rb negative patients.Conclusion The expressions of p16 and Rb protein may be an useful tumor marker for gastric cancer and can be used to evaluate the tumor biological behavior,sensitivity to the treatment and prognosis.
