OBSERVATION OF CURATIVE EFFECT OF FALCIPARUM MALARIA TREATED WITH ARTEMETHER TABLETS AND PRIMAQUINE

[Objective] To explore the efficacy in falciparum malaria cases with Artemether and Primaquine.[Methods] Randomization and comparison methods were used in 174 falciparum malaria cases who were taken in and given treatment in hospital GERAL DE LUANDA of Angola.Among them 88 cases were treated with Artemether(80mg,orally,qd*7d) then with Primaquine(22.5mg orally,qd*4d);86 cases received single Artemether were taken as controls.All of them were conducted follow-up after treatment.[Results] In combined group and control group,clinical cure rates were 98.86% and 94.18%,the mean fever clearance time were(42.4±9.8) hours and(45.1±13.2) hours,relapse rate was 5.68% and 29.07% respectively.[Conclusion] Combined methods show high efficacy and quicker effect in treatment of plasmodium falciparum,and are more effective in reducing relapse rate of malaria.
