Abstract

OBJECTIVE To observe the Polygonum cuspidatum extract on CCl4induced acute liver injury in mice.METHODS CCl4-induced acute liver injury model in mice, determine serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),liver superoxide dismutase(SOD) activity and malondialdehyde(MDA) content in liver tissue.RESULTS CCl4-induced acute liver injury model in mice, serum ALT,AST significantly increased, liver SOD activity was significantly reduced,MDA levels were significantly increased(P0.01);Polygonum cuspidatum extrat can significantly reduce serum ALT,AST,obviously improve liver SOD activity and lower MDA content in liver tissue(P0.01).CONCLUSION Polygonum cuspidatum extract has lower liver enzymes and anti-oxidation effect on the CCl4-induced acute liver injury in mice have some protective effect.
