Abstract

This is the second part of a series of two papers dealing with Spathiini of China. 11 new species belonging to the species-groups of cassidorus Nixon, alipes Wilkinson, leucippus Nixon, testaceitarsis Cameron, rusticulus Wilkinson, labdacus Nixon, ruficeps Smith, alternecoloratus Chao (new species-group), and imbecillus Enderlein of the genus Spathius Nees and 1 new species of the genus Platyspathius Viereck are dealt with. Besides, one species of the group of alipes Wilkinson is recorded for the first time from China. Type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology of the Academia Sinica. Spathius pammelas Chao sp. nov.The labiform ridge between areola and area petiolaris suggests its affinity with cassidorus Nixon. They are different in coloration, the subapical white band of the antennae, the length of the ovipositor sheaths and other respects.Body length: 3.1mm without ovipositor. 1 , holotype, Yunnan.Spathius euthyradius Chao sp. nov.Body length: , 4.5mm without ovipositor. 1 , holotype, Szechuan. 1 , para-type, Kwangtung.Judging from the structure of the frons, the vertex and the lateral lobes of the mesonotum, this species is closely allied to melpomene Nixon and ceto Nixon. It differs from ceto in that the face is not almost smooth and the basal carina of propodeum is shorter than its forks. It can be differentiated from melpomene in not having a brownish cloud behind each eye, and the propodeum not black.Spathius nigripetiolus Chao sp. nov.Body length: 3.5 mm without ovipositor. 1, holotype, Yunnan. Similar to evideus Chao in the gaster being compressed and the ovipostior sheaths about as long as the abdomen. They are different in the structure of the vertex.Spathius longicornis Chao sp. nov.Body length: 3.9mm without ovipositor. 1 , holotype, Yunnan.Similar to 8. opis rufovariegatus Nixon, but different in coloration and the ves-titure on the upper surface of the hind tibia. Besides, it has many more antennal segments.Spathius aspersus Chao sp. nov.Body length: 4.7mm 1, holotype, Fukien. The coloration of the gaster of the present new species, which is known from a male specimen, is very similar to that of the female of 8. miletus Nixon of Taiwan Province. It differs from the latter in that the tergite (2+3) is 1.2 times instead of almost twice as long as its apical width. It differs from 8. leucippus Nixon (Borneo) in that the petiole is only 1.7 instead of 2.5 times as long as the propodeum.Spathius magnus Chao sp. nov.Body length: 10 mm without ovipositor. 1 , holotype, Yunnan. This species differs from testaceitarsis Cameron as follows: hairs on upper surface of hind tibia not twice as long as its middle width, segment 3 of tarsus much shorter than 5, and tergite 4 not margined.Spathius crebristriatus Chao sp. nov.Body length: 3.5 mm without ovipositor. 1 , holotype, Fukien. Both crebristriatus and the following new species mundus are closely allied to the exotic species prusias Nixon and axaeceri Nixon. The presence of the Y-shaped posterior carina on the mesonotum will differentiate it from its allies.Spathius mundus Chao sp. nov.Body length: 2.5 mm without ovipositor. 1 , holotype, Fukien. This new species differs from crebristriatus as indicated in the above key.Spathius deplanatus Chao sp. nov.Body length: 4.2 mm without ovipositor. 1 , holotype, Fukien.Extremely like ochus but different from that species by being even more depressed dorso-ventrally. In lateral view the thorax is 6 times as long as deep at the tegulae. Ovipositor sheaths shorter, only about 0.38 as long as the abdomen.Spathius alternecoloratus Chao sp. nov. This new species probably represents an isolate group of species which is peculiar in having the gaster clothed with scattered long hairs.Body length: 8-10.5 ram without ovipositor. 2 , holotype and paratype, Yunnan.Spathius omiensis Chao sp. nov.Body length: 3.5 mm without ovipositor. 1 , holotype, Szechuan. This new species differs from other members of the group as follows: petiole parallel-sided, its apical half not narrower as its basal; ovipositor sheaths longer than the b
