Comparison of pineapple peel juice and MRS used as culture media for lactic acid bacteria.

Abstract

Lactobacillus plantarum was used for fermentation in this paper and two kinds of medium(juice of pineapple peel and MRS) were compared for culture of Lactobacillus plantarum.The results showed that,Lactobacillus plantarum showed similar growth velocity,fermented ability and maximum viable count in pineapple peel juice with in MRS,indicating that pineapple peel juice can be used as a novel culture medium for Lactobacillus instead of MRS Medium.
