Abstract
Runway Status Lights is a full-automatic runway incursion prevention system, which enhances perception of pilots and drivers for runway operation situation through signal lights. When it is unsafe to cross/enter/take off from runways as such runways are occupied, red signal lights will come on, indicating latent conflicts. In this paper, construction standards of runway status lights are described, and their design methods and operation control strategies are researched. Some existing problems are discussed through actual installation and application in airports.
