Abstract

Correlation coefficient and path analysis were analysed in 25 diverse genotype of garlic (Allium sativum L.) at Vegetable Research Farm, Department of Vegetable Science, Dr YS Parmar University of Hoticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan (H.P). Correlation coefficient is estimated between yield and other character at genotypic and phenotypic levels to know the inter relationship among the characters. Correlation studies revealed that yield per plot was positively and significantly associated with plant height, number of leaves per plant, days to maturity, neck thickness, bulb length, bulb breadth, bulb weight, clove length, clove breadth, clove weight whereas, negatively and significantly with number of bulbs per kg and number of cloves per bulb. Path coefficient analysis revealed high positive and direct effect of bulb weight on bulb yield per plot followed by clove length and neck thickness, these characters should be considered while selection of genotypes will ultimately improve the garlic yield.
