The Imagery of Beauty Spots in Andalusian Poetry

This research addresses one of the features of beauty, namely “beauty spot” as located in different spots on the human body. The research defined beauty spot, birth mark and mole. It also identified types, colors, spots and aesthetic aspects of this beauty spot. It also reviews beauty spot books in Arabic literature; some of these books were investigated while others are still manuscripts waiting to be discovered and salvaged from neglect and desertion. The research studies the images of beauty spots in the Andulusian poetry by reviewing the different contextual worlds which inspired poets to depict them. Some excerpts from manuscripts and published books were analyzed to portray and highlight the aesthetic characteristics of these beauty spots.
