Abstract
This paper aims to propose the use of three-parameter Weibull in distributing the ocean current speed data and compare it with two-parameter Weibull and Rayleigh distributions. The Rayleigh and both Weibull distributions were applied to match with the obtained data. The distribution parameters are determined using Maximum Likelihood Estimation. The coefficient of determination and the Root mean square error is used to analyze the performance of three distribution models by compared with the obtained data distribution. It is found that both two- and three-parameter Weibull distributions are better fits than the Rayleigh distribution for ocean current speed in Malaysia.
