New corporate framework for public enterprises in Serbia

In this article the authors discuss about the issues related to the activities and reform of public enterprises in Serbia from the point of view of the new Law on public enterprises. The corporate bodies in public enterprises (supervisory board and director) should provide professional public management in line with the ownership policy and interest of the state. They also should be oriented towards creating values in public sector. The reform process of strategic public enterprises assumes their corporate, organizational and financial restructuring. In the phase of corporatization of public enterprises, one of major tasks is to enhance the quality of their management, resolve agency-related problems of corporate management and provide management of business results of public enterprises as their business performances.
