Abstract
Current development is focused on food and energy production along with numerous consequences. The objective of agriculture and agricultural machinery has been to increase yield per unit of area and the production of the commodities of animal origin in order to meet the needs of the growing world population. However, an annual 2,5 to 3 % yield increase recorded is neither sufficient nor final. Developed countries are faced with a stagnating population growth and the demand for food commodities is seriously threatened. These countries are experiencing a progressive hyper production of agricultural production in general which leads to an increased energy consumption as well. Science is expected to contribute not only to the problem of food crisis but to solve energetic and ecological issues as well. As far as agriculture is concerned efforts should be concentrated on rational and efficient machinery. There is, however, one thing that should be borne in mind: the development of agricultural mechanization should not be limited to economic and energetic issues only but to ecological needs as well. Computerized control systems of mechanized processes in agricultural and food production have been developed in order monitor the economic energetic and ecological impacts on agriculture.
