The flouting maxims employed by luffy in One Piece movie episodes 1-5 based on grice’s cooperative principles

This research mainly explores and analyzes the flouting maxin in One Piece episodes 1-5. The flouting maxim occurs when the interlocutor or the speaker is uncooperative during the conversation. The researcher problem with general questions what kinds of flouting maxim are employed by Luffy character in one piece movie and what situation the maxim are flouted. The researcher uses the theory of Grice’s cooperative principle especially the concept of flouting maxim. moreover, the researcher used qualitative approach. The qualitative method is a method that uses qualitative data, such as; word, sentences, or pictures. The results obtained are as follows: the researcher discovers five flouting maxim of quality, four flouting maxim of quantity, four flouting maxim of relevance, and two flouting maxim of manner. Besides, the researcher also finds the mixing flouting maxim they are, two flouting maxim of quality and quantity, two flouting maxim quality and relevance, and one flouting maxim of quality and manner. Then, the researcher finds many situational context such as, background knowledge context that included the interpersonal context and cultural context, the reffering context, the situational context, and co-textual context. It is concluded that, Luffy flouts the maxim because he wants to show his nt and hides his real condition. It disagreement and hides his real condition, it also is used by Luffy tell about the lie and to show his personal interest about the topic.
