Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effect of intravitreal injection of small dose of triamcinolone acetonide (TA) for macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion(RVO). Methods According to the selective criteria, 40 eyes of 40 cases with macular edema secondary to retinal veinocclusion were collected, and each eye was injected intravitreally with TA 1 mg. The visual acuity, intraocular pressure, fundus and macular retinal thickness were observed. Results The corrected vision was improved 1 week, 1 month, 3 months respectively after intravitreal injection and the corrected vision increased compared with that of pretreatment. The thickness of macular decreased by 115 μm、327 μm and 501 μm respectively by optical coherence tomography examining. No complication related to TA injection occurred. Conclusion Intravitreal injection with 1 mg TA for macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion is safe and effective. Key words: Triamcinolone acetonide, small dose; Injection, intravitreal; Vein occlusion, retinal; Edema, macular
