Abstract
Objective To investigate the risk factors, treatment methods and therapeutic effects of infectious endophthalmitis after cataract surgery. Methods 14 cases (14 eyes)with infectious endophthalmitis following cataract surgery over the past decade were collected retrospectively to analysis the risk factors, treatment methods, and therapeutic effects. Results By anterior chamber irrigation chamber combined with intravitreal injection therapy and systemic anti-infective therapy, the inflammation was controlled in all pateints. The visual acuity when discharged from hospital:1 case was no light perception,3 cases were light perception,10 cases were above of counting fingers. Conclusion There are many risk factors associated infectious endophthalmitis after cataract surgery.Early anterior chamber irrigation combined with intraocular injection of antibiotic drugs are key factors to controll inflammation, improve the prognosis, especially in the rural area hospital. Key words: Cataract extraction; Endophthalmitis; Anterior chamber irrigation; Intravitreal injection
