Analysis of clinical characteristics of 11 cases of extra-adrenal pheochromocytoma

Abstract

Eleven cases of extra-adrenal pheochromocytoma confirmed by pathology after operation in Xin Jiang Autonomous Region people hospital from 1998 to 2008 were retrospectively analyzed. The measurement of uri-nary vaniUylmandelic acid was equally valuable in diagnosing adrenal and extra-adrenal pheochromocytomas. Tumor localization was difficult, but most extra-adrenal pheochromocytoma could be diagnosed by means of B uhrasonography, CT,MRI, or 131 I-MIBG. Thorough surgical ablation was the best choice to cure extra-adrenal pheochromocytoma. Key words: Extra-adrenal Pheochromocytoma; Clinical Analysis; Diagnosis
