Expression of B7-H3 protein in colon carcinoma and clinical pathological significance

Abstract
Objective
To investigate the expression of B7-H3 in colon carcinoma and analyze its clinical pathological significance.
Methods
Seventy-two paraffin specimens stored in Department of Pathology in the First People’s Hospital of Shangqiu from January 2009 to April 2017 were collected. The expression of B7-H3 in 72 patients with colon carcinomas were detected by immunohistochemistry. The correlation between B7-H3 expression and clinicopathologic features (age, gender, histologic differentiation, TNM stage, lymph node metastasis) were analyzed.
Results
The positive expression rate of B7-H3 in colon carcinomas was 75.0%(54/72). The expression of B7-H3 in patients with colon carcinomas was closely correlated with tumor stage and lymph node metastasis (P 0.05).
Conclusions
The over expression of B7-H3 in colon carcinoma is correlated with tumor stage and lymph node metastasis and it might be a new potential target of therapy.
