The significance of expression of B7-H4 in breast cancer

Abstract

Objective:To study the expression of B7-H4 in breast cancer and its relation with cancer clinicopathological variables. Methods:The expression of B7-H4 in 51 surgically resected specimens of breast cancer was evaluated immunohistochemically. Furthermore, we examined the correlation between B7-H4 expression and clinicopathological variables. Results:In these tumor specimens, expression of B7-H4 was observed in the cell membrane and/or cytoplasm, and 88.2%(45/51) of specimens was positive for B7-H4. B7-H4 expression was related to Her-2/neu status and histology type and had any relationship with other pathologic factors. Its expression in Her-2-negative group and carcinoma situ group was much lower. Conclusion:The results suggeste B7-H4 is probably related to the patients' prognosis and the cancer development.
