Abstract

Objective To study the expression and significance of IL-2 and IL-4 in the tissues of cervical cancer and cervical intraepithelial neoplasis(CIN). Methods Ninety-two biopsy cervical tissues(including 38 cases of cervical invasive squamous cell carcinoma,10 of CIN Ⅰ,7 of CINⅡ,5 of CIN Ⅲ,32 of normal or inflammation cervical tissue)were studied.IL-2 mRNA and IL-4 mRNA were detected with in situ hybridization. Results The positive expression rates of IL-2 in the controls,CIN Ⅰ,CIN Ⅱ,CIN Ⅲ and cervical cancer were 62.5%,100%,0.0,0.0 and 10.5%respectively.The difference was significant(P<0.05).The positive expression rates of IL-4 were 12.5%,50%,57.1%,80.0%and 84.2%respectively.The difference was significant(P<0.05).Conclusion With the increasing of levels of cervical lesions, the expression of IL-2 reduces in the local cervical tissues, and the expression of IL-4 increases. There happened the drift from Th1 to Th2. Key words: Th1/Th2; Interleukin-2;  Interleukin-4;  Cervical cancer;  Cervical intraepithelial neoplasis;  In situ hybridization
