Association of adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein with obesity and metabolism syndrome

Adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein(A-FABP)belongs to the fatty acid-binding protein super-family, and it is highly expressed in adipose tissue.The physiologic function of A-FABP is involved in the intracellular trafficking and targeting of fatty acids inside cells.Recent research indicated that this protein may be all important regulator of systemic insulin sensitivity as well as lipid and glucose metabolism,indicating that A-FABP participates in the pathogenesis of obesity and metabolic syndrome.
