Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of wearing orthokeratology lens on the ocular accommodation parameters. Methods Seventy patients with myopia were selected from Jan.2014 to Jan.2018. The adjustment amplitude, corneal curvature level, corneal curvature vertical, corneal thickness, naked vision and the corrected visual acuity were measured before and 1 week, 1 and 6 months after wearing. Results The adjustment range, corneal curvature level, corneal curvature perpendicularity of myopic patients were (9.29±0.36)D, (9.29±0.32)D, (9.28±0.26)D at 1 week, after wearing (40.63±1.32)D, (40.58±1.38)D, (40.50±1.39)D at 1 month, (41.29±1.43)D, (41.19±1.48)D, (41.14±1.46)D at 6 months after wearing. All index were significantly lower than those (9.48±0.32)D, (42.80±1.27)D, (43.78±1.43)D before wearing. The naked vision after wearing were 1.12±0.15, 1.15±0.12, 1.11±0.13 at 1 week, 1 month and 6 months respectively, which were significantly better than 1.71±0.23 before treatment, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The difference of the corneal thickness, corrected visual acuity were not statistically significant between before and after treatment (P=0.260, 0.727). Conclusion Orthokeratology can effectively improve the accommodation function of patients with myopia, and it is helpful to improve visual acuity.
