Abstract
Objective To investigate the influence of benazepril on ventricular remodeling and MMP-2 expression in rats with acute myocardial infarction.Methods The 240 male Wistar rats were selected and randomly divided into four groups including sham operation group (60 rats),captopril group (60 rats),benazepril group (60 rats) and myocardial infarctiong group (60 rats).The left ventricular end-diastolic diameter,left ventricular end-systolic diameter,left ventricular ejection fraction,the left ventricular end-diastolic pressure,heart weight / body weight,left ventricular weight / body weight,and serum MMP-2 levels of three groups were all compared.Results The left ventricular end-diastolic diameter,left ventricular end-systolic diameter,left ventricular ejection fraction,the left ventricular end-diastolic pressure,heart weight/body weight,left ventricular weight / body weight and serum MMP-2 levels of captopril group and benazepril group were significantly improved than sham operation group (P < 0.05).But there was no significant differences in terms of left ventricular end-diastolic pressure,heart weight / body weight,left ventricular weight / body weight and serum MMP-2 levels between captopril group and benazepril group (P > 0.05).Captopril group and benazepril group were significantly imp roved in serum and myocardial tissue MMP-2 levels compared with myocardial infarction group (P < 0.05).Conclusions Benazepril treatment on rats with acute myocardial infarction can efficiently improve left ventricular function after myocardial infarction,reduce ventricular hypertrophy and delay the process of ventricular remodeling.There was no significant difference in improving degree between captopril and benazepril.MMP-2 contributed to the ventricular remodeling in acute myocardial infarction.
