Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) and hypertension,a three-year follow-up study was conducted in order to confirm whether apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) ,minimum oxygen saturation (MinSpO2) were the independent risk factors for hypertension, and to further explore the association between OSAHS and hypertension. Methods A 3-year follow-up study was conducted in 346 subjects to investigate the prevalence of hypertension among OSAHS patients and compared with the normal subjects. Logistic multiple regression analysis was conducted to assess whether AHI and MinSpO2 were the independent factors for OSAHS patients were respectively 28.4% and 5.4 %, but in the simple snoring patients were respectively logistic multiple regression analysis showed that AHI, BMI, MinSpO2, age as variables were accepted in the model. Conclusions Our results suggested that AHI, MinSpO2 are independent risk factors for hypertension,OSAHS may play an important role in hypertension pathogenesis. Key words: Obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome; Hypertension; Follow-up study
