Abstract
Objective To study the prevalence and genotype distribution of OXA-type extended-spectrmnβ-lactamases(ESBLs) in Pseudomonas aerugenosa strains. Methods Ninty-seven non-repetitive clinical strains of Pseudomonas aerugenasa isolates were collected from October 2006 to January 2007 in the Xiangya Hospital in Hunan province. The OXA-type genes of 97 Pseudomonas aerugenosa strains were collected from Oct. 2006 to Jan 2007. They were detected by PCR and DNA sequencing was used to determine the genotypes of the OXA ESBLs. Results 3 out of 97 Pseudomonas aerugenosa isolates carried blaOXA genes from plasmid, the isolate rate of OXA-type ESBLs was 3.1% (3/97). The genotype of 3 isolates was not included in GenBank after homology comparison. They are novel OXA-type extended-spectrum beta-laetamase, named as blaOXA-128 and blaOXA-129 (eorresponding to Genbank NO. EU573214 and EU573215). Conclusions The OXA type beta-laetamase genes carried by Pseudomonas aerugenosa is first identified as two novel OXA-type extended-spectrum beta-lactamase genes:blaOXA-128 and blaOXA-129.
