Abstract
Objective To explore the efficacy of phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation for cataract in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM).Methods 76 patients with diabetic cataract (82 eyes) and 76 non-diabetic patients with cataract (82 eyes) underwent phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation.The visual acuity and complications of the procedure were noted.Results There were no significant differences between the two groups in postoperative visual acuity and complications (P>0.05).The final visual acuity of 0.6 or above was 68.29% in the diabetes group and was 75.61% in the non-diabetes group.Conclusions Phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation is safe and reliable in improving visual acuity,only if the patients with diabetic cataract have no severe postoperative complications of eyes.
