Comparison on effects of single oxytocin or combination with carboprost methylate suppository on preventing postpartum hemorrhage in primipara with cesarean section

Objective To compare the effects between single oxytocin and combination with carboprost methylate suppository on preventing postpartum hemorrhage in primipara with cesarean section. Methods One hundred and two pregnant women who experienced cesarean section in the People’s Hospital of Xiaoyi from June 2017 to June 2018 were selected. And they were divided into combination group (given carboprost methylate suppository plus oxytocin for preventing postpartum hemorrhage) and single drug group (only given oxytocin for preventing postpartum hemorrhage) according to the random number table method, with 51 cases in each group. The postpartum hemorrhage, recovery, blood flow, coagulation status and safety were compared between the two group. Results The incidence of postpartum hemorrhage, the bleeding volume 2 and 24 hours after operation in combination group were significantly lower than those in single drug group (P 0.05. Conclusions Carboprost methylate suppository combined with oxytocin can effectively prevent postpartum hemorrhage and promote recovery after cesarean section, and it is safe and reliable.
