The efficacy appreciation of nursing intervention in the prevention of urinary retention of patients after orthopedic surgery

Abstract
Objective To assess the clinical efficacy of nursing intervention in the prevention of urinary retention in patients after orthopedic surgery.Methods 116 patients undergoing orthopedic surgery were divided randomly into a study group and a control group,58 for each group.The control groups received conventional nursing,while the study group received comprehensive nursing intervention measures in addition to conventional nursing.Results The study group was superior to the control group in restoration of bladder function and satisfication (P＜0.01for both comparisons).Thehe incidence rate of urinary retention was lower in the study group than in the control group (P＜0.05).Conclusions Nursing intervention can effectively prevent the incidence of urinary retention in patients after orthopedic surgery,and enhance the quality of nursing and the degree of patient satisfaction.
