Abstract

Objective To evaluate the correlation of the atherosclerotic cerebral infarction with carotid atherosclerotic plaque, and provide important basis of treatment and prevention in herosclerotic cerebral infarction. Methods The color Doppler flow imaging technology was used to detect the carotid intimal-medial thickness, the number and position of plaques, the extent of lumen narrowing and cerebral hemodynamic changes on both the infarction and infarction-free sides in 216 patients with cerebral stroke, which were compared with those in 200 cases of control group. Results There were 355 (164.4%) patients with carotid arteriosclerotic plaques among the cerebral infarction patients, the incidence was significant higher than that of control group(40.28%,P <0.05),especially in the bifurcation of common carotid artery 207 (58.4%).Conclusions Stroke occurrence is closely correlated with the carotid arteriosclerotic plaque.Prevention of plaque formation is significant to avoid stroke events. Key words: Cerebral infarction ;  Carotid artery atherosclerosis plaque ;  Doppler ultrasound ;  Risk factors
