Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of the PRK procedure with prophylactic use of mitomycin-C for myopia with thinner comea. Methods 128 cases(243 eyes) of myopia accepted PRK with intraoperative use of mitomycin-C.128 cases of myopia, between -2.00D and - 10.00D,were follow-up for 6 months. Results The corneal haze didn't reach grade 2 in 128 case (243 eyes). The uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) ≥0.8 in 206 eyes(84.77% ) at 1 week after surgery, and ≥0.8 in 216 eyes(88.89% ) at 6 months after surgery, and the UCVA reached or exceeded the best corrected visual acuity before surgery in 233 eyes (95.88%) There was no difference in refraction status between 6 months and 1 week after surgery. No toxic or side effects were encountered postoperatively. Conclusion It suggests that the prophylactic use of mitomycin-C intraoperatively in PRK can produce lower haze rates. Key words: Photorefractive keratectomy(PRK) ; Mitomycin-C ; Haze
