Abstract

Objective To evaluate the nursing workload of NCU with nursing activities score (NAS) objectively and accurately and to count the number of nurses on the basis of nursing workload so as to make arrangements for the number of nurses foreseeingly and enhance nursing effect. Methods To evaluate the nursing workload of everyday nursing workload and total nursing workload of NCU using NAS,then analyze some factors which influenced the nursing workload. Results The average NAS score of each patient in NCU was 54.39 per day, with the lowest score 30.23 and the highest score 87.6.The influencing factors of the nursing workload included the time entering ICU,different sequelae and surgical operation. Conclusions Nurses of our NCU is bearing overloaded work,so nurse human resource should be justly distributed according to the nursing workload.Employing nursing marking system can enhance the nursing quality. Key words: Nursing activities score (NAS) ;  Nursing workload;  Investigation and analysis;  NCU
