Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation on corneal endothelial cells of patients with non-hard cataract. Methods Total of 104 eyes of 82 cases with non-hard cataract in Changzhou Purui Eye Hospital from Jan. 2016 to Dec. 2018 were randomly divided into two groups.The control group, 52 eyes of 41 cases, were treated with small incision extracapsular cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation. And the research group, 52 eyes of 41 cases, were treated with phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation.All patients were followed up for 7 days, 1 month and 3 months after surgery. Results There was no significant difference in naked vision between the two groups (P>0.05). The corneal endothelial cell density in the research group was higher than that in the control group at 7 days, 1 and 3 months after surgery(P=0.037, 0.028, 0.021). The loss rate of corneal endothelial cells in the research group was lower than that in the control group at 1 and 3 months after operation (P=0.040, 0.025). The corneal thickness of the research group was lower than that of the control group at 7 days after surgery (P=0.031). There was no significant difference in corneal astigmatism between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion Phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation in the treatment of patients with non-hard cataract can reduce the rate of corneal endothelial cell loss.
