Ginger moxibustion for urinary retention due to surgical treatment for anorectal diseases

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of ginger moxibustion for urinary retention due to surgical treatment for anorectal diseases.Methods 77 patients with acute urinary retention secondary tor surgery for anorectal diseases were assigned to receive ginger moxibustion for acupoint guanyuan (study group),or traditional theapy with hot compress and massage.Time to automatic micturition and effectiveness rate.Results Time to automatic micturition were markedly shorter and the effectiveness rarte was significantly higher in the study group than in the control group [(1.23 ± 0.69) h vs.(2.48 ± 0.79) h and 92.31％ vs.68.42％,P＜0.01].Conclusions Ginger moxibustion is efficacious in the treatment of acute urinary retention secondary to surgical treatment for anorectal diseases.It can help patients restore automatic micturition faster and improve the efficacy of treatment.
