Observation of the preventive effect of chitosan combined with acupuncture on abdominal postoperative adhesive ileus

Abstract
Objective To observe the preventive effect of chitosan combined with acupuncture on abdominal postoperative adhesive ileus.Methods 46 patients undergoing abdominal surgery in our hospital from January 2012 to June 2013 were divided into experimental group and control group according to a random number table,26 cases in experimental group and 20 cases in control group.In the surgical procedure,control group received chitosan,while experimental group received chitosan and acupuncture.The incidence of adhesive ileus in two groups was compared.Results In experimental group,there were 23 cases of grade 0 adhesive ileus,1 case of grade Ⅰ ; in control group,there were 18 cases of grade 0 adhesive ileus,1 case of grade Ⅰ,1 case of grade Ⅱ.The incidence of adhesive ileus in experimental group was 3.85％,that in control group was 10.00％,with statistically significant difference (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Chitosan combined with acupuncture in the treatment of patients undergoing abdominal surgery can improve the prognosis and their quality of life.
